Living in the small tourist town of Lake Chelan has brought so many wonderful people into my life. I was lucky enough to become friends with Jaxom and Megan through local Chelan friends Mandi and Blaze who’s wedding I photographed in Jamaica! When we started planning Jax and Megan’s engagement session the only request they had was, “Can we end up in the trees somewhere?”
After brainstorming and considering locations from the North Cascades to Leavenworth and the coast, they decided a trip to the ocean was perfect. In true Pacific Northwest style, I set out for the coast a week before their scheduled session on a solo summer road trip. My initial plan was to scout a handful of locations, send pictures, and choose a place that had both trees and beach to meet up at. However, I didn’t even make it passed Ocean Shores. Of all places, the quintessential Washington coast vacation spot was just what we were looking for.
Jax and Megan met me at Ocean City State Park where I had been camping for the week. There was something pretty dang spectacular about Megan’s luscious red locks against the green rainforest backdrop in this park. After these two got ready on a park bench, we wandered through the trees eventually making our way out to the beach. We boulder hopped our way around the jetty and watched the sunset. It was a coastal day all Washingtonians dream of. Sunshine and blue skies on the Pacific Coast anywhere north of California always feels like a gift!
Taking the time to make traditional portraits of my clients, whether a mini session or an all day wedding, is a priority to me.
Portraits are important. Trust me.
Big thanks to Jax and Megan for taking the time to make this adventure happen. These photos honestly feel like them, and that’s something I am extra proud of. Their wedding in Lake Chelan at Shadow Mountain will be a day to remember!
If you haven't worked with or have been waffling about a photographer for engagement photos or pics of the big day I would recommend you check out Megan Kathleen, definitely took a lot of the mystery and pressure out of engagement shoots, super glad to book her for the wedding as well. Also spectacularly enthused to call her one of my friends!”

“Megan was absolutely fabulous! I am super awkward about photos but she made me/us feel totally at ease (at one point I described it as my fiance’ and I just hanging out and Megan was the wildlife photographer capturing us in our natural habitat :) ) Not only did we have so much fun, the photos are all GORGEOUS! My mother was so impressed by her ability to capture our personalities (even fleeting expressions most only recognize if they know us closely) and shared she would have killed to have photos that beautiful. I am so glad we chose to get engagement photos and I am super excited all the beautiful photos from when Megan does our wedding. I will be shouting her name from the mountaintops to anyone looking for a photographer.”
